In the early 2000s I was working on a project for my Newton MessagePad 2000 from Apple Computer. Through the interconnect port you could have an audio out or in. Since the Newton 2000 did not have a headphone jack, and I was looking for a quality recording beyond that with the built in microphone some cables were made. But I needed the connector and Kensington Electronics was the source. I was required to buy 9 of these at minimum. I remember it costing no more than $30 for a bag of these, which I found tonight:
My father who is great at soldiering made two quality cables for the audio in and audio out which I've used with the Newton 2000, 2100, and eMate for years. That tells how durable these connectors were. This port was normally used for serial connections by most Newton users.
A truly unique connector for a unique portable device.Show more
